Spring is here, the season of cleansing, detoxing, outdoor activities and the shedding of winter sluggishness. We want to open the windows, air our homes, and transition to lighter, cooler foods.

In winter we naturally eat more root vegetables. Soups and stews are warming and nourishing, and help us fight the cold. But now is the time to include lighter fresh fruits and vegetables, reduce our caffeine intake (winter always requires more caffeine!) and up the water.

Spring is also a perfect time to give our bodies a gentle detox, and Bowen Therapy is a great way to assist with this process as it encourages the body to release unwanted toxins and restore balance on a physical and energetic level.

Bowen Therapy affects several body systems including:

  • Circulatory
  • Lymphatic
  • Digestive
  • Nervous
  • Musculo-skeltal

It’s gentle rebalancing effects on the circulatory, digestive and lymphatic systems help the body to naturally detox which often leads to an increase in energy and overall wellbeing.

Bowen Therapy consists of gentle rolling movements done with the practitioners fingers over specific points of the body, many of which are acupuncture points. The treatment is gentle, non-invasive and done through light clothing. To allow the body to process the moves, there are short pauses in between specific sets of moves.  Effects of the treatment unfold over the course of 3- 5 days.

Clients often report improvements in sleep, energy, pain and emotional wellbeing. To receive the full benefits of Bowen it is recommended clients book a series of three sessions. This of course varies from person to person. Combine treatments with lots of fresh filtered water, an increase in spring greens and lighter meals, and exercise. Your body will thank you for it!
