Counselling for life transitions

There are moments in life when everything changes. When what was once familiar no longer fits, and the way forward feels uncertain. If you’re going through a major shift, counselling for life transitions can provide a safe, and grounding space in which you can find your way again. From my practice in Belfast and through online therapy across the UK, I support women who are navigating difficult changes including relationship endings, relocation, illness, retirement, or a season of life that simply no longer feels like “you.”

 Navigating Major Life Changes

  You may be:

  • Adjusting to life after a long-term relationship has ended

  • Facing the quiet ache of an empty nest

  • Coming to terms with a new medical diagnosis or chronic illness

  • Relocating to a new city or country

  • Entering retirement or a career change and wondering, What now?

  • Finding yourself in a season of unexpected transition — emotionally, spiritually, or circumstantially

Whatever it is that brings you here, I offer a supportive, compassionate space in which you can find your way again.

When Life Changes, Your Inner World Does Too

You might be:

  • Struggling to sleep, with a million thoughts racing through your mind

  • Unsure of who you are anymore

  • Feeling as though part of you is missing

  • Coping with physical changes and the emotional weight of illness

  • Caught in cycles of anxiety or low mood

  • Dwelling on the past, fearing what’s next

  • Feeling lost, without a clear sense of direction

How Counselling for Life Transitions Can Help

Therapy offers more than just coping strategies, it provides a safe space that holds what feels too heavy to carry alone. Within this space, you’ll be met with care, curiosity, and respect. All emotions are welcome.

In our work together, you’ll have the opportunity to speak freely and openly, knowing your thoughts and feelings will be heard in confidence. We’ll welcome all emotions, even those you might be reluctant to face, and explore what matters most to you.

Throughout the process, you’ll begin to build trust in your ability to move forward, even as life shifts and changes in ways you never anticipated. This journey isn’t about rushing to “fix” things or find quick answers, it’s about creating space for your experience. Space to listen, reflect, and gently move forwards.

Journaling in Therapy

As a journal therapist I offer personalised writing prompts and optional recorded reflections to deepen the process. Journaling can be very helpful during transitions as it provides a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in your own time, outside of sessions.

Counselling Outcomes

While every path is unique, many of the women I work with share that they:

  • Feel less alone and more grounded

  • Understand themselves on a deeper level

  • Begin to trust their instincts again

  • Reclaim a sense of purpose, identity, and direction

  • Feel more confident in who they are and their path ahead.

If something within you knows it’s time to reach out, even if you’re not sure what to say, that’s enough. I welcome you just as you are.

You don’t have to navigate this season alone. Let’s find your way forward, together.
