Mother wound counselling – healing for women

Many women carry a deep, often unspoken pain connected to their early relationship with their mother. This can show up as self-doubt, difficulty setting boundaries, a lingering sense of not being enough, and an emptiness that you don’t understand.  If you recognise yourself in this, mother wound counselling may offer the support and guidance you need to begin healing.

Understanding the mother wound

The term mother wound refers to the emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical pain that can develop when a child’s attachment needs are unmet, or when the mother-child bond is disrupted. It can stem from several things such as emotional neglect, unmet needs, or hurtful behaviours, which may or may not have been intentional.

Healing the mother wound is a very individual process that involves courage, empathy, and a safe space to gently reconnect with one’s inner child. The focus is on learning to love yourself in the inner spaces where love and safety were missing. It’s about learning to tend to your own needs so you can begin to heal and grown.

Mother wound counselling offers a safe, compassionate space to take this life changing journey and give yourself the gift of inner peace.

My role in this is to walk along side you, offering empathy, deep respect for your experience, and professional guidance as you journey toward healing and wholeness.

 How Counselling Can Help

Mother wound counselling provides a safe, compassionate space to explore your experiences and their impact at your own pace. For those who wish to, I also offer therapeutic journaling, which is optional and can help you process emotions, notice patterns, and build self-compassion.

Whilst healing can take many forms and everyone’s journey is different, through our sessions you can expect to:

Understand the impact of early wounds on your sense of self:
Explore how unmet needs and past experiences have shaped your patterns, self-esteem, and relationships. Gaining awareness is the first step toward change.

Release old pain and emotional burdens:
Work gently through feelings of guilt, shame, or self-blame, creating space to heal and let go of patterns that no longer serve you.

Reconnect with your inner wisdom and self-compassion:
Learn strategies for self-soothing, nurturing your needs, and treating yourself with kindness and respect. With this comes the development of a stronger sense of self who has the ability to set healthy boundaries and feel empowered to embrace life with authenticity and hope.
